In this study, we provide a cross-sectional comparison of existing influenza virus detection methods in terms of their sensitivity, sample volume required, and process time needed for an assay. Virological techniques, immunological techniques, and real-time polymerase chain reaction were examined. An identical lot of influenza virus stock was used for the experiments. The result gives an index for the evaluation of the performance abilities of virus detection systems.Corresponding author: Makoto Fujimaki
